Puez - Odle/Geisler Nature Reserve
The Puez-Odle/Geisler nature reserve extends over an area of 10,196 hectares in the heart of the Dolomites. It is for the most part in the rocky terrain above the timberline straddling an elevation of around 8,200 ft/2,500 m and provides a welcome retreat from the bustle of everyday life.
It is cross-crossed by countless walking and hiking trails providing tours suitable for families as well as challenging routes. Experienced mountaineers can try one of the secured climbing routes leading into the highest regions. The nature reserve visitor centre is located in the village of St. Magdalena in the Funes/Villnöss Valley.
Exhibits include an aerial photograph of the area and displays of the local geology. Afternoon activities are organised for children in summer on the theme of ‘On nature’s trail’.
Open from the beginning of May to the end of October and from the end of December to the end of March from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 4pm to 7pm; closed Sundays and Mondays.
